Overview:

Pakistan holds the distinction of being the first country to sign the Skill Verification Program (SVP) agreement with Takamol Saudi Arabia, an initiative launched by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) to regulate and enhance the quality of its labor market. The SVP was officially implemented on 1st July 2021 and applies to all foreign skilled workers intending to work in Saudi Arabia.

Under this program, all skilled workers from Pakistan and other participating countries must undergo mandatory skill assessments, including theoretical and practical tests, to verify their competence before applying for a Saudi work visa. These assessments are conducted by Takamol, the official agency designated by the Saudi government to implement the program as per the Kingdom’s occupational standards.

This agreement reflects strong bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, especially in workforce development. It ensures that Pakistani workers meet international skill standards and improves their credibility, employability, and safety in the Saudi job market. The SVP also supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 by enhancing productivity, reducing unskilled labor, and raising workplace standards.

Pakistan has established several authorized testing centers across the country to help workers get certified in various trades, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, welding, and mechanical fields. These centers are equipped with modern facilities to ensure transparent and standardized testing.

By becoming the first to sign this agreement, Pakistan has taken a bold step toward aligning its workforce with global labor standards. It not only strengthens Pakistan’s position as a leading supplier of skilled labor to the Gulf but also opens new opportunities for Pakistani workers in Saudi Arabia and beyond.
